August 29,2020 is the 100th birthday of Charlie Parker, considered one of the most influential jazz artists of the 20th century and the father of improvisational bebop. Four of his recordings have been inducted into the GRAMMY Hall of Fame , the U.S. Postal Service has issued a commemorative stamp in his honor, and the Parker composition "Koko" was included in the National Recorded Registry. Join WXYC and Jazz incognito as we celebrate Parker’s tunes and discuss the slew of new releases, vinyl reissues, the first-ever excursions into graphic novels, and a variety of virtual events coinciding with the Bird 100 festival.
